COPA UNIVISION KC 2015
El día Sábado 20 de septiembre se llevo acabo la primera Copa Univision KC 2015 organizada por Soccer Nation KC en colaboración con La Camara de Comercio Hispana y Univision Kansas City.
El torneo tuvo categorías de adultos, femenil e infantiles con un total de 102 equipos. La mayoría de equipos eran de Kansas City y el área metropolitana, sin embargo también hubo participación de equipos de otros estados como, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Iowa y Arkansas. EL evento tuvo gran respuesta entre la comunidad latina con mas de 4000 asistentes.
El torneo fue una fiesta total. Grupos locales como Quinto Olea Sangre Nueva , Los nuevos del Requinto y la Sonora Inkontenible estuvieron amenizando el ambiente durante la competición. También jugadores de Sporting KC estuvieron presentes tomándose fotos y firmando autógrafos con las familias así como la presencia de varios patrocinadores que estuvieron dando varios regalos y sorpresas a los asistentes.

Today, Sean MCdowell from Fox 4 news visited Soccer Nation KC and did a TV report about Soccer Nation and how it started.

KANSAS CITY, Kan. — It’s been called the world’s most popular sport. That’s certainly the case for soccer fans in KCK, and thanks to a new indoor facility, they can play games closer to home.

It was roughly a year ago that Villegas and a group of investors bought a former paper warehouse and turned it into Soccer Nation. Villegas constructed a 40,000-foot indoor soccer center, and because he did, soccer families in Wyandotte County can finally play indoor games in their own backyard.
Villegas just celebrated one year in business. The California native says some families who have come to his leagues used to drive long distances to play indoor soccer, and the expenses were adding up.
“I recognized these kids over here, they might need a venue to do it,” Villegas said. “I understand how Latino families work so hard because they want a better future for their kids.”
Villegas says he named his league El Padrino, which means Godfather, because he appreciates that parents trust him to teach their kids to play.
“It’s a passion they’ve had since they were born,” Villegas said. “They probably saw their grandparents and their parents play the sport, and now, they have their own kids.”
El Padrino offers indoor soccer for all ages. Emily Lopez appreciates that. She’s a mother of four, and before this facility came along, her family wanted to play soccer, but there was no convenient place to do it.
“We are very appreciative of having it so close to home,” Lopez said. “Before this, we didn’t have a league we could play in so we enjoy being able to come out.”
Next, Villegas says he wants to take the indoor game back outside. He says expenses have also added up for Wyandotte County families in the summer months, and he believes they deserve to play at home.
The El Padrino league plays its championships this weekend. Soccer players will go for their league banners this weekend in KCK with age groups beginning at six years old.

The Mexican National Team will face Paraguay at Arrowhead Stadium at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31 as part of the team’s 13th annual U.S. Tour. The Arrowhead Stadium stop is one of two games during March’s FIFA window which was announced by The Federación Mexicana de Fútbol (FMF) and Soccer United Marketing (SUM). Mexico will also play Ecuador on Saturday, March 28 at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
This match marks the first soccer contest at Arrowhead Stadium since the Kansas City Wizards hosted Manchester United in 2010 in front of the largest soccer crowd in Kansas City history (52,424) and is the first competition between two international teams since El Clasico – Club Deportivo Guadalajara S.A. de C.V. (Chivas) vs. Club America in 2009.
The top players from Mexico, Ecuador and Paraguay are expected to be called up as the teams prepare for key international tournaments this summer, including the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup and the 2015 CONMEBOL Copa América.
“We are extremely excited to have the Mexican National Team scheduled to play its first-ever match at Arrowhead Stadium,” Chiefs President Mark Donovan said. “We have put an emphasis on creating a sports and entertainment destination for fans of all ages, interests and backgrounds. We know that Mexican National Team fans travel extremely well, and we are eager to have new fans experience everything special about Arrowhead and Kansas City.”

Soccer Nation together with Sporting KC, and KCP&L are working together to host more soccer clinics this year.
Last year, 2 clinics were hosted featuring Sporting KC players, coaches and nearly 70 kids from the El Padrino soccer league at Soccer Nation in Wyandotte County. Thanks to the support of KCP&L, each child was provided food and given a drawstring bag with a soccer ball, water bottle and t-shirt. Each child was also able to go home with a pair of donated soccer cleats.

Sera de Febrero 13 al 16 con un mínimo de 3 juegos mas finales.
Todos los equipos reciben 12 boletos para el juego de los Comets ese fin de semana aparte de que algunos juegos se jugaran en el estadio de los Comets.
